Carbon neutrality is one of the main tasks we have set ourselves as part of the Planet Passionate program. That is why we want to achieve zero carbon dioxide emissions in 2030.

To make it possible, we undertake actions on many levels. One of them is the replacement of the car fleet. Already in 2025, all cars belonging to Balex Metal will be zero-emission. In 2021, the company will own six electric vehicles. The priority is also that the energy for charging cars comes from renewable sources.

The priority is also that the energy for charging cars comes from renewable sources.

A six-channel carport for electric vehicles has recently been built at IKON's global innovation center in Kingscourt. As a result, each car will be charged 100% for renewable energy.

Planet Passionate 2020 Annual Report

More on the activities related to carbon dioxide reduction presents the Planet Passionate 2020 Annual Report. In this area, we have set ourselves the goal of:

  • achieving zero carbon emissions by 2030 (scope 1 & 2)
  • switch to a zero-emission car fleet as early as 2025 (range 1 & 2)
  • halving the CO2 generated when delivering to our partners (range 3)

In 2020, our absolute GHG emissions (Scope 1 and 2) decreased by 5.2% compared to 2019. That was the result of a combination of reduced energy consumption and process improvements.

In 2020, our sustainability teams worked closely with major raw material suppliers throughout the year, resulting in many ongoing collaborative projects. In addition, thanks to the lifetime of our insulation systems sold in 2020, we will save 164 million tonnes of CO2.
